About Adele

I grew up in Baltimore where I learned basics of both music and nature love from my paternal grandmother who played baroque recorder and watched and conversed with birds (and squirrels). While studying Asian religions in California I met my Victorian husband. We came to Victoria in 1973, lived for some years in a tiny cabin on a tiny lake, and then followed a job to Regina where we lived for seven winters. My photography study began at home with Freeman Patterson's Photography for the Joy of It. I mostly photographed while on holiday on Vancouver Island.

Moving back to Victoria gave me the opportunity to delve seriously into the challenge of capturing the magic and spirit of the West Coast forest with a camera, a few lenses, a heavy tripod and a full heart. Combining the fruits of this ongoing pursuit with live music has proved a very effective way to reach a variety of audiences.

I feel very fortunate to have had the benefit of Courtney Milne's teaching, guidance, and encouragement. Learning to express on film one's emotional relationship to one little corner of earth's miraculous garden is a challenging, promising, sometimes daunting process. Without Courtney's mentorship, I may not have found the confidence to continue.

From 1990 to 2005, I taught photo workshops with an emphasis on enhancing the experience of our connection to nature.
